Will Mater Dei find its way back to the promised land? #STATE #CIF

After winning four consecutive State titles with NBA's Detroit Pistons top draft pick Stanly Johnson, Mater Dei has yet to find a go to guy after Johnson's departure.
After working hard to make a State championship game appearance once again in 2015 versus the same team they defeated in 2014, (Bishop O'dowd) The Dragons were anxious for some payback, and smelled blood as Mater Dei lacked a finisher with Johnson out of the picture. Mater Dei has proven that they can get to the CIF State championship with a whole different roster before, having to make a championship appearance for state without Johnson is an accomplishment on its own, and who can blame the Monarch's for losing against an eager team like the dragons who had top recruit for Boise State Paris Austin, and Cal State commit Ivan Rabb (who also played at the Michael Jordan Brand Classic this year as well).
Whats amazing, is that Mater Dei has always found a way to be successful before, thanks to the amazing coaching from Gary McKnight, but father time waits for no one, and McKnight isn't getting any younger. Will the Monarch program be able to not only make another State championship appearance, but win it as well with Rex Pflueger also out of the picture? Will father time affect coach McKnight's ability to be as consistent in delivering the Monarchs the best high school basketball program in the State of California?
The Monarchs open up their new season December 4th, at 7:30 versus Marian Catholic at the Chicago Elite Classic. Following that, they will be playing against Morgan Park. For more news on Elite Hoops:
